Shot at lotus pond, hyderabad.
canon 60D, canon 100-400 L IS USM
f7.1, 1/100sec, ISO 500, 400mm, eval metering, cropped heavily.
The noise is slightly on the higher side, but I like the perch and habitat, so just couldn't resist sharing!

Nice perch. The habitat looks nice. Wish it was closer.
Once I had to crawl on a bund with water flowing over it, to get closer to a kingfisher. I had nearly 100 images taken from across the small lake till I was 6 feet from it. Sometimes it is worth the effort. This is the link to the image I got at the end - http://www.indiawilds.com/forums/sho...ght=kingfisher
Thanks for sharing.
It seems you are getting better day by day in habitat images.Although lot of negative spaces on the top drawing the attention away from the bird :).It will be nice to see some close up images of this beautiful bird.TFS
The habitat images are looking better. The shutter speed was low. Still you can try a few images with narrow aperture as the kingfisher often sits motionless.
Cheers,

Like the setting here. wish a little of the water was also visable.
