Numenius phaeopus.
Made this on a grey day at Muypilangad beach near Thalassery in Kerala back in Sep 2011 when the migrants were coming in.

Nice composition. Including the vegetation at the lower right corner looks nice. Nice pose and eye contact. Since you said it is a crop, maybe some more space would give a nice feel of the environment. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that a bit more wider would have been even better. You can also post a larger picture with 1000 pixels on longest side. With a wider composition, at 1000 pixels long, the subject will also appear fine in the image. Thanks for sharing.
