Hello everyone, I've been absent from the forums for quite a while due to a faulty internet connection and lots of academic work.

Male Forest Calotes (Calotes rouxii). This image was made in Karnala yesterday. This is probably the closest I've got to a calotes, and also the most compliant calotes I've met :).

Canon 500D, Canon 100mm Macro USM
SS 1/50, hand held
Av 7.1
ISO 800
EC -0.3
No flash
Recovered some blown highlights in the BG.
Cropped slightly to remove a distraction at the bottom right corner.

Thanks, C&C welcome.

Nice colours.the green smooth Bg is nice and contrasts the calotes. Is it a bit soft?

Roopak, I'm not sure why it appears soft. It looked OK in lightroom and also after it was exported. There appears to be some drop in the quality, though I uploaded a suitably sized file...

I think the depth of field is very shallow. The leg is in focus. And some of the spikes on the head is in focus. The feeling of lack of focus is perhaps due to the eye. I guess the eye was closed/opened or moved during the click.

The background is nice. The subject contrasts nicely with the background. Which focus point did you use? Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Sabyasachi, The central AF point was used on the eye.
