wow, never ceases to amaze me how you manage such decent sharpness at shutter speeds as low as 1/60. I'm trying to spot any form of movement (even with a fidgety little youngster like the calf) but not able to find any in the frame. Simply brilliant.

Secondly at ISO 1000 and a 16% crop - the noise levels are pretty good. Was any noise filter used ?

Do post your tips on both these aspects for our learning ? thanks for sharing . . .

This was a lovely moment witnessed. Not often we see an elephant calf suckling. I got some decent footage. I would rate this above the sighting of a tiger looking left or right, as we have too many such images. I am yet to convert my images. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Rajan, I was using a tripod here and that certainly helped. As ISO 1000 was used here there is significant amount of noise at 100%. Haven't used any noise filter, used Lightroom for minor touch up, crop and RAW to JPEG conversion.

As I used manual focus, the focus is spot on here. When I use manual focus I use the LCD display with 10x zoom to fine tune. This assures me the best image quality possible.

Also when you watch the action on the LCD with 10x, it helps you give a closer look at subject so you can track the finer details of the action and be more precise in capturing the moment.

If the action is fast and I have sufficient shutter speed than I choose to go in for the burst after I have manually focused.

In this case the elephant baby was comparatively calmer and we got some time with this one, so it was comparatively easy to freeze the action even at low shutter speed

The composition here is very good.. baby and mother are clearly visible in the frame and also there is no shake at that shutter speed. Good job Atul.
