Dear All,

I got information that Dr. Ravi Sankaran memorial lecture is at JN Tata Auditorium, Indian Institute of Science Campus,
Bangalore, on 2 August 2012, at 5:30 pm.

Prof. Mahesh Rangarajan will deliver this lecture, titled
"Conservation as if democracy mattered". The lecture will be preceded
by a brief introduction to Ravi's life and work, for the benefit of
those who did not know him well.

This memorial lecture is organised by the Ravi Sankaran Foundation in
association with the Student Conference on Conservation
Science--Bangalore.

Dr. Ravi Sankaran, was known for his dogged persistence in surveying wilderness areas and saving those. Whenever there is talk of edible nest swiftlet, Ravi's name is mentioned in the same breath.

Dr Ravi Sankaran had passed away suddenly in January 2009. Alas, life doesn't give us sufficient notice. I would suggest our bangalore based members and anyone who would be in bangalore on that day to attend it in honour of Dr Ravi Sankaran.
