Not as colourful as the male, the green / emerald on the wings is less bright also lacks the white shoulder patch and the white grey crown of the male.

Nice image of the female dove Roopak. The emeralds are visible clearly though not as well as the male as you have pointed out. I dont think the bird's going to be happy about it... after all 'gems' are a girl's best friend :D. Thanks for sharing.

Often the bright colourations and beauty are seen in male of the species (excluding humans?).

Most of the images of this species by photographers is of birds perched on a water pot or from the road. I guess this is the first time I saw one perched on a tree. Thanks for sharing.
