Bharatpur seems to be teeming with these at this time of the year. They are seen as if they've been put on show.

Nice to see this colourful, auspicious bird (Nilkantha) before Durga Puja. Nice perch. Fine composition. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

Nice perch and good eye contact. How is the sighting in Bharatpur in the monsoons? Thanks for sharing.

Nice eye contact. I remember crawling and moving close to get full frame (as captured) image with only a 300mm lens in the film photography days in bharatpur.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

I was talking about film days - more than a decade back. And also I meant full frame image without cropping (or composition while developing - if I use the language of printers).

Your image appears to be heavily cropped.

For the sake of clarity, as many members here haven't used negative or slide films. The size of 35mm film is 36mm by 24mm. These days the cameras that you use ie the 550D/600D...7D or 1100D etc have smaller sensors and a crop factor of 1.6 . That a 300mm lens acts like a 300*1.6 = 480mm

Or your 250mm lens is equivalent to 250mm * 1.6 = 400mm

Yes. Most of my cropping work was either on the contact sheet or in the dark room. Unless I was using my large format Linhof.

Are you still printing black and white yourself?

No way. Gave it up ages back.
