Gasteracantha hasselti, one of the spiny orb-weaver spiders. This family is found in mainly in rainforests of north-east India and the western ghats. Nice find. Any other compositions?

A very unique shape of this spider. The semi circular (tentacles?) look very different. Since it is 50% crop, just a bit more space on the right would be good. Good details. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

Mrudul: The structures you refer to are spines on the abdomen. In most other species of this family, the spines are much smaller.

Nice image. the one I have seen often in the western ghats is yellow in colour with black spots. as mentioned by abhishek this is the posterior view ..:)
