Photographed this at Ranganathittu. While doing the boat ride, it suddenly came behind us and I got to take a few images as it dived to make the catch. The action was really fast and I couldn't capture the dive. Very interesting behavior to watch.

The wingspread is nice. With a 500mm lens, this would have been full frame. The sky is overcast and the exposure is fine. This image would have gone up a few notches, if there would have been a catchlight in the eye. That is not in your hands. We can only hope. I like the composition. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

The pied kingfisher's distinctive feature of diving with its long beak pointing vertically towards the target nicely captured. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild
