Sony has announced that by the end of this year it is going to launch TVs with 4 K resolution which is roughly equivalent to four times the resolution of HD. The TV is 84 inches in the diagonal and has a resolution of 3840 by 2160. It is to be remembered that true 4K resolution is 4096 by 2160
This TV can upscale the content from DVD, Blue Ray etc.
Full HD resolution is 1920x1080. In India, we still don't have Full HD broadcast. So it is to be seen when these sets will be launched in India.
