This was shot in Periyar lake in Thekkady last month. The light was a bit harsh. I would have liked a bit more space all around as well but could not remove the Teleconverter in time.

Canon EOS 7D, 300mm f/4L IS USM + 1.4x TC
SS 1/160 (+2/3 EC)
f/8
ISO 400

Full Frame Image. Comments and critiques welcome.

The elephant with all the mud looks like a statue. Nice to see mother and child. I would love to see this scene without the Tc ie. a wider scene. Elephants literally need more space.

Frontal lighting would have been great here. Did you click this from boat or from a vehicle? Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Nice moment captured. Good you could sight them in open. Nice details. Agree had the light been from behind you it would have enhanced the image further. Was it raining there? Last time I went there, it was very cloudy and raining so didn't carry my camera :(. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that frontal lighting would have been better. This was taken from a moving boat. Wish I had the naked 300mm attached to the camera.
