A set of conservationists and photograpghers have discovered a new abode of Nilgiri Tahrs in Trivandrum district of Kerala.About 100 Tahrs are roaming around the 'Varayattumudi"(Literal translation:Nilgiri Tahr mountain).

The name of the place may suggest the presence of large no.of Tahrs, but thats not the case.Apart from Eravikulam NP no other place in Kerala is considered to be "viable" for these ungulates.

This find is great news for Tahrs lovers and others alike. The mountain goats found in this hill is looking more robust and healthy as per the report in The Hindu.

Good news. It should be declared as a sanctuary, if it has not yet been done. One hundred is a good number. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild
