Posting in the Birds forum after a long time. This was clicked on Karwar beach. The kite was diving for trash fish from a shore seine net.

Nice to see a bird image from your macro lens. Wish light had fallen on its head. That would have been lovely. May be an image a second a two before this was clicked would have been great. The depth of field is fine.

Over to Shaktipada ji for throwing light on dynamics of flight. I love his knowledge and interest on avionics.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Wow lovely moment captured. Good details. The underparts of the wings look nice. Good you got it with the fish. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

Splendid display of acrobatics by a bird of prey/scavanger documented. Abhishek Bhai has used the most appropriate word 'swoop' rather than 'dive'.

Shri Sabyasachi,
No plane( F-22 Raptor included) has still been manufactued by human beings which has control system for each and every component of the wing, nose or tail as this bird has effectively used for manoeuvring. The bird knows that it cannot dive/plunge headlong as does a pied kingfisher. It has retained 'lift' with varied wingspread of right and left wing, secondaries and primaries(feathers) and tail positioning so that it can 'at will' fly parallel or climb up after 'target acquisition'.
Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

Thanks for the comments all. Thanks Saktiji for the detailed comparison to an aircraft... Reminds us how difficult (maybe impossible) it is to replicate nature, even with the most sophisticated technology.
