Hi,

This Grasshopper shot in Yeoor Hills, Thane.

Canon 550D, 18-135mm Lens, Tv : F/5.6, Av :1/40, ISO 250, FL: 135mm.
Crop approx. 40%.

The little fellow was quietly camouflaged in between leaves .Its interesting eyes caught my attention.

Nice find. Looks like a nymph (the wings haven't grown the whole length of the abdomen yet). The plant in the photograph (I think it is Arctium) is interesting too- The seeds have minute hooks which cling to the fur of animals aiding dispersal. One also finds these seeds stuck to one's clothes during a trek. These are the inspiration for the design of the 'Velcro'.

Thanks Abhishek !!! Good to know the details & yes it did look like a baby. Just learnt the meaning of "nymph" in insect world through your post.

Tx again/ Anil

Nice information by Abhishek about bio-mimicry. The shutter speed was pretty low. So raising the ISO would have been better. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see this species. Agree a higher shutter speed would have helped to get more details. Thanks for sharing.
