Sharing this image of a kingfisher. Unfortunately I was photographing against the light. However, I photographed as I liked the shape of the tree trunk. A bit of fill flash would have been good, but I was not carrying my flash at that time.

Canon EOS 1D Mark II, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII ie. at 800mm, ISO 800, f8, 1/500, full frame.

I would have definitely loved to see it holding a prey (fish, tadpoles etc) in its beak.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

You're right, the trunk adds to the compo. Nice image. Any specific reasons for using ISO 800, though? I thought a lower one would work better.

Abhishek,
Light was terrible. I wanted a higher shutter speed. If I would have used ISO 400, then the shutter speed would have been 1/250. I wanted to get higher depth of field to get the tree trunk and the bird, so used f8.

Though I had the lens mounted on tripod, if the bird would have remained still, then I could have clicked at lower ISO. I would have reduced the ISO later if the bird would have remained for some time.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Beautiful capture, Sabyasachi :). Loved the Bark to paint ;) and the acute eyes....

Can we have more Smilies to show our expressions, views & feelings...just my thought :).

All best wishes,

Cheers, Rahul

Nice composition. The texture on the bark is good. As you have mentioned the light was quite low, the BG is a bit gloomy. Nice image.

sharp image....agree with mrudul, coz of the BG there is a halo effect on the bird i feel
