Red Munia ( Male ) in moult. Shot at New Town, Rajarhat, WB on 02 Dec 2012.
EXIF : speed 1/800, ISO -400, f7.1, Exp =2/3 stop.With Canon 600D & Tamron 70-300 handheld.

Th perch and the eye contact is nice. the catch light looks good. The vertical composition goes well with the tall stalks. Wish it was closer for more details. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely bird. In bird photography, no focal length is long enough unless the bird is cooperative, one is in a hide or painstaking crawling to move closer. How big is this grassland?

Yes, you are absolutely correct on focal length. The area is quite large ( approx 40sq km) if you move by foot only. Fortunately or rather unfortunately the area is under HIDCO which is responsible for developing the area for infrastructural use. So, there are few mastic roads already laid.Within 300 meter the alignment of a new metro line is being rapidly under progress.
The dry season helped me to crawl and wait in the grassland.Otherwise , it could have been risky.
