Agree with Murugan on the point of focus. Luckily, the high apreture has actually minimized the OOF on the birds and the details are quite nice. The eyes of this bird potrays a sense of power . . .

single point focus on the eye was used leaves in good focus because DOF f 8

The focus is on the leaves. The eye is not covered by depth of field. From this angle it is difficult to get the entire bird in focus, even at f8. You may have used single point focus, however, you can actually see where the focus point was using DPP (Digital Photo Professional) that comes with the camera and zoom browser.

Also one has to keep in mind that when the subject is small in the frame, the AF point occupies a larger area and can focus on any part. In this case the focus has locked on the leaves. Thanks for sharing.
