She was feeding with her calf in Bandipur and then she walked off. Elephant walk is supposed to be nice and women with beautiful walk are often refered to as Gajagamini in sanskrit- Gaja meaning elephant.

Canon EOS 1D Mark II, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, ISO 400, f5, 1/500 seconds, full frame.

Look forward to your comments.

Interesting composition. The raised foot, swaying ears and tail adds to the image. Would have liked a bit more room on the top and some more of the road. The details on the skin are nice. Lovely photograph and a nice title :).

Lovely snap Sabyasachi,
great that you could cover the whole body even at f5 (how???)
Agree with Mrudul about the space on the top and bottom...

Looks like you guys had fun, a pity i could not join you that evening for i got stuck at B'lore till late in the day . . . . maybe next time.

Lovely composition. Like the raised left foot posture. The flapping but rusty earlobes gives a feeling of age. On Mrudul's point, maybe a deviation of the rule of the thirds, helps at times . . . :)

Rajan

Bibhav,
The depth of field is dependent upon the distance. The elephant was far off. That is why I got the required depth of field at f5.

Rajan,
We missed you. It was such a short trip and planned at the last minute. Next time we can plan it better. We had lots of fun especially with Bibhav stalking birds with a 135mm. :D

Cheers,
Sabyasachi
