Indian Fox

In the desert forests of Bera we were quite lucky to get a long sighting of this elusive fox. It was trying to sleep for a while and then moved away after trying to rest in the grass under a tree for close to 10 mns. Very surprisingly it did not move away even when we inched the jeep closer for better shots...

Lovely! Haven't seen many up-close shots of this animal, that too making eye contact. Had sighted it in Kutch once but that was no more than a fleeting glance. Nicely done. Hope you guys didn't encroach on its privacy too much.

Nice Eye contact. a lower angle i possibl wud been great. It is Indian fox (Vulpes bengalensis)

Nice eye contact. This is Vulpes bengalensis as Roopak has pointed out. Nice sighting. I just reached delhi after a 3000 km road trip and got some nice desert fox footage.

This picture shows an excellent example of camouflage in nature, the fox perfectly blends with its surroundings and if it were asleep it would have been very difficult to spot whether by human or animal eyes! I think this makes it an even better photograph. Great work...

Thanks guys...indian fox has a black tipped tail and the desert cousin white. Yes it was pretty indistinguishable from surroundings when it had its face tucked inside its body and was trying to sleep
