Painted Stork- SHAR Road(SriHarikota) Pulicat Lake- 5-01-2013

Nikon D4, 300mm + 1.4X TC, 420 mm ISO 2500 f 5.6 Shutter speed 1/8000. Low Lit Condition Handheld Cropped. Was doing a action shot of Painted Stork making its catch and hence a higher shutter speed...

Nice pose. The reflection looks good. So are there good numbers of flamingos in Pulicat this year? Thanks for sharing.

well this season atleast for me Flamingo's disappointed me as I went four times this season and I could not spot anything close and they were inside....

but few have spotted them very close in December....

One can often find flamingoes in the side road that is perpendicular to the SHAR road. However, 420mm is a bit small. Once I had found them close during a gloomy, overcast day.

You need to go to the other village (I am forgetting the name - before TADA right turn) and go by boat.

You don't need 1/8000 shutter speed for these flamingoes. So you could have used a much lower ISO.

yes i think you are saying TADA Samudhram....

i was doing some action shot of painted storks and hence had a high shutter speed...
