This tern just dived infront of the boat and took off and shook off the water from its body. Shot during that moment, so you see the head twisted.

Canon 1D Mark IV, EF 70-200 f2.8 L IS II USM, EF 2xII TC at 400mm, ISO 200, 1/1000, full frame image.

I preferred this amount of brightness, as any further brightness will result in the water droplets being invisible. I will post another version with more brightness for you to see.

I have been extensively travelling for more than a month and half for filming and had to endure low internet connectivity. Hence there is a backlog of images to check. Posting this after I could update myself with a lot of images posted by our fellow members here.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

I brightened a little bit and cropped this image so that you can see the behaviour clearly. 46% has been discarded and this image represents 64% of the original capture.

Amazing action captured. I had never seen this before. Didn't know that it can actually shake its head in 360 degrees. The flying water droplets add to the composition. The whites are well exposed and the yellow beak stands out. The re-post with more brightness looks good. In slightly better light this would have been simply great. Thanks for sharing.

nice action . wish this was in better light. I had recently tried catching bridled and common terns diving and coming out of the water ..wasn't abl to mange any thing decent.
