Nice composition, perch and eye contact. First on seeing the image, I felt the tree in the background was a bit distracting, but then it is not directly behind the owl, also there is symmetry between both the barks. You can also try placing the owl on the line of thirds (slightly lower int eh frame), that would enhance the composition further. Its good that you are trying environment compositions. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that the tree on the left is distracting. The critical focus seems to be slightly infront of the owl, so the owl appears a bit soft. A longer focal length and a vertical composition might be better in this case. A narrow aperture would have been better here. Thanks for sharing.
