During the recent visit to Sewri for enjoying the visual delight of the Flamingos, I had an interesting encounter with this Egret. It was well set in a small puddle of water and was busy capturing as many fish./mudflippers as possible. Had captured a huge range of photos, one of them is this.

Nice moment captured. Liked the way it has slightly turned its head. That has helped to get good eye contact and some light on the head. The reflection adds to the composition. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

Make it a little bit wider composition as it is tight at the bottom of the frame. The big water ripple is also broken. Also, with the crop the details are less. In tight compositions, our eye wants to see details. Cropping often takes away details, along with lower shutter speed, improper technique, incorrect exposure etc. It is better to try and move as close to the subject as possible and using the maximum available focal length and create a composition with the maximum amount of details. That will please our eye, heart and soul. :)

Even I wanted to get closer to the egret, but the knee deep quicksand-ish marsh was stopping me, Though I was at the edge of the constructed ramp, and at the lowest point. Surely shall keep your points in mind while cropping the images hence forth :)
