Motored down to Maidenahalli last Sunday. Here a Blackbuck displays to a female of the species.

EOS 40D, 500f4 + 1.4 x converter, ISO 400, Aperture Priority @ f5.6, handheld, cropped for monitor dimensions.

As mentioned in another post, I'm posting many images today since I shall be travelling. Also, the forum seems very quiet.

Thanks for looking, c & c welcome.

Hi Apana,
I like the 'trot' pose of the Blackbuck. however the image seems a bit over sharpened... The dark coat of the antelope somehow doesnt stand out against the dark background and the eye goes to the brighter dry grass. Did you try from some other angles?

Lovely pose. I liked the dark coat, the texture of the horns and the raised tail. Nice behaviour captured. Thanks for sharing the images, you can keep posting more even if you are not travelling :).

Bibhav - This animal has shades of white under the coat and is a real problem to sharpen. Yes, do have other shots of this chap as well as other males.

Apana,
Nice pose and composition. Typically, viewing in the web needs a bit more sharpening, however I try a bit less here. What was the shutter speed? How far is this place from Bangalore?

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Sabyasachi, 120 kms, lets me know when you are coming, :-) I'm back on the 6th. Excellent place in winter, with Indian Courser as well.

The highlight was meeting Gundappa Master, a local school teacher, who has been responsible for preserving the Slender Loris in the area.
