Lone jackals expelled from their pack have been known to form commensal relationships with tigers. This particular Jackal was observed near the kill of a tiger for three days, with tiger on gaurd. A wild guess, since did not see another jackal, maybe this jackal is in similar relation. NIKON D7000, 1/1600s, F/10 @ 250mm, ISO 6400, aperture 5.:001_smile:

Nice image Debasis. The angle looks a bit steep though. I have seen jackals near tiger kills and also near tigers where there werent any kill. Infact the first time I saw a tiger in the jungle in the early 90's was in corbett and we spotted 3-4 jackals and then our guide immediately said tiger tiger.... and there was no kill also around.

Nice you got it looking towards you. There seems to be some detail loss. The lighting was a bit difficult with the eyes in shadow. Nice walking pose. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see a jackal. They are becoming so rare these days. Wish there was light on its face. Which area of Corbett was this? Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Nice walking pose. Nice eye contact. In Corbett and Simlipal are places where Jackals were often seen.
Krishnan has observed, Leopards prey on Jackals but not the Tigers. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild
