I am not a bird specialist, however the eyes indicates they this is a ladder backed woodpecker but the colour seems to be of brown capped pygmy woodpecker. Can someone please identify the woodpecker? NIKON D7000, F2.8, 200mm, 1/500s, ISO 400.

Nice sighting. Wish it was not directly over head. Don't have the bird book with me now, experts please help with the id. Thanks for sharing.

Nice sighting. Nice pose. It appears to me to be Female Brown-fronted Woodpecker(Dendrocopos auriceps auriceps). Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild
P.S.: I am not an expert on birds, my interest has been primarily on mammals and snakes, even then how little I know.

Thanks Saktipadada for identification. I was under impression that brown fronted woodpeckers females have complete yellow crown and males have forecrown brown, centre yellow, rear red.

nice pic. steep angle. the back is barred and not spotted and indicates a brown fronted wood pecker. will be a lot easier if you have any pic where the crown and moustache are more visible.
Its certainly not a brown capped pygmy woodpecker.it is smaller bird and willnot show any red on the vent.

Nice to see this. Did you click this in Corbett? Reduce the colour temperature and the highlight areas will look better. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
