This was at BRT last week. My first experiments with a Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM in low light conditions. The monkey was behind a bush, popped out its head and was surprised to find a huge lens pointing at its face.

5D MII, Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM, F4, 1/800, 800 ISO

Please review and advice

Nice portrait. The composition looks fine. Wish the light was better, so the eyes could have been better lighted. Thanks for sharing.

Nice portrait. Fine details. I presume the Bonnet Monkey was photographed inside the forest, so there is no need for storing food as it appears that cheek pouches are empty. It may be young, as there are no dark hairs in the crown.
The mood is nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

It is not easy to get the eyes well as most often there is a chance of shadows. So while composing one has to be careful. It is good that it was overcast sky so there was even lighting. If it would have raised its face slightly, then there would have been light on the eyes. One needs to be patient for that.

The background has come out well and the details in the body and face is also nice. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
