Another one from the BRT Hills.

The light was awful and was confounded further by a constant drizzle. I was at the wheel of a Safari vehicle when taking a turn, a Crested Serpent Eagle came into view (pretty near, i am posting second image to give the viewers a sense of the distance).

The bird was posing patiently as I experimented with quite a few combinations, and here is one of them . . . .

5D M II, Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM, F4, 1/80, ISO 6400 EV +1.5, hand held

Rajan

Here is a picture of the distance and the environment this was pictured. The engine was turned off, but there was no place to mount a tripod or even get a bean bag. Hand holding was the only option but the best shutter speed i could get was 1/80 . . .

Nice closeup. Lovely eye contact. You got good details and sharpness in spite of the low shutter speed. Nicely captured.

P.S - Nice photograph of you by Vaishnavi, gives the full picture :).

It is always nice to see the close up of a raptor with its piercing gaze. The 400 f4 DO lens is handholdable. You can also raise the window pane and place a beanbag on it with both the sides of the beanbag hanging and tightly fitting the window pane. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
