Red Headed Vulture..

Conservation status - Critically Endangered.

The Red-headed Vulture (Sarcogyps calvus), also known as the Asian King Vulture, Indian Black Vulture or Pondicherry Vulture (though there are unrelated species in the New World who share the names King Vulture and Black Vulture.

Clicked at Kabini, Mysore District, Karntaka in June'13

I wish i had got a much darker back ground.

Nice sighting of this endangered species. Good eye contact. There is some loss of details maybe due to the crop. Was there only one present? Thanks for sharing.

Good to sight this. Hope their population increase back to the previous levels.

Why do you need to darken the background? Canopy is always going to be brighter unless you light up the bird. To render the background pleasing a narrow aperture will be of help as it will increase the depth of field. One needs to also compose keeping bright highlights in the canopy and any distracting branch. Removing the background to make it black will result in image being unfit for editorial applications.
