The diagonal composition looks nice. Good details. Is it catching something in the mouth? The green background adds to the composition. You have captured it nicely even with the low shutter speed. Monsoon would be good season for photographing macro. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mrudul for comments.

It was secreting orange gel like drops from both sides & mud like substance from one end. Would request if someone in group can explain this.

Lovely. Nice image and it's great that you have observed and recorded behaviour too. If you look at the legs closely, you notice that the 6 pairs towards the right (front) are slender "true legs", while the ones on the right (rear) are short, stubby "false legs" or "pseudopods". The latter are temporary and disappear during metamorphosis. The muddy secretion in my opinion would be faeces, and the orange droplets may be a similar substance formed during digestion (we know of a sugary substance that other caterpillars secrete, and which is harvested by ants).
I suggest you send a PM to Vikram Gupchup, our member who knows a lot more about butterflies and possibly even caterpillar ID.

This is interesting. Good info Abhishek!

The subject stands out with the green background and reminds me of so many childhood day memories in the village. Thanks for sharing.
