[Story:- This deer is partially wild & partially tamed...when she was little, her mother was killed by a leopard not far from the forest department building; the forest department officials raised it, and when she was fully grown, she was introduced to a herd...this is some years ago...after that, whenever the deer herd comes close to the forest department building, she comes to visit that place for a few hours...
We were just having breakfast after our morning safari, when this deer approached us within very close range, I sprinked some common salt on a leaf and gave it to her, which she happily licked (as seen in the shot)...
According to the forest department officials, the deer is expecting a baby, and when her baby is born, she would stop visiting the place...]

Nice image. Details are good. It is easier to introduce herbivores. However, once introduced into the wild, they shouldn't be fed. Ofcourse, all of us feel good when a wild animal comes close to us.

In one instance a barking deer was seized from someone and brought to Similipal. It was released near the forest rest house and for two days it was staying close by, perhaps because it was used to people. Then a leopard came and dragged it onto a tree within the compound.

@sabyasachi patra - so true, deers remain safest in groups...i also asked other visitors not to feed their lunch materials & fruits to it...
