Around Tadoba the landscape is dotted with little waterbodies which become rich in bird life during the monsoons. One could stop the car anywhere on the raised road bunds and watch them for hours. D3200 1/4000S F/5.6 ISO 3200 10.30AM 14 JUNE 2013.

You don't need such high shutter speeds for a bird walking. So you could have used a lower ISO as well. For example 1/2000 shutter speed means your ISO would have also become half to ISO 1600. ISO 800 means 1/1000 shutter speed. You could have even come down a bit lower.

The above combination of shutter speed and ISO was a mistake.I realized only after I had taken the shot.I will certainly be more careful in the future.

Nice image. Presently it is walking away from the frame, moving a bit more to the left would have helped to enhance the eye contact. Slight more space on the left than on the right (in the direction it is moving) would be good. Thanks for sharing.

If the subject is not shy one should wait to get better eye contact, pose , angle etc...the contrast seems a bit high as well here.

Nice image of the open billed stork. Agree with the above comments. My guides in Africa were pleasantly surprised when I told them open billed storks seen in India are white in color with occasional black shades. The open bills in southern africa are jet black in color. Thanks for sharing.

I did not post this particular image though it had more frontal angle because of the intervening vegetation. Thanks Roopak and Muragan for the comments and information.
