Nice sighting of this tusker grazing peacefully. You got it well even with the low shutter speed of 1/30. I think using a slightly wider aperture like f6.3 would have given some more shutter speed. Good that you tried a vertical composition as it was quite close. Thanks for sharing.

The trunk is a technological marvel performing the operations of the finest material handling equipment. I am not going into details of Pre and Post operations of this equipment like bundling, dusting, biting etc. which are not seen in the image.

In the documented part of its operations, as I see it, for feeding the bunch of fodder consisting of short grasses, the trunk is formed into double twist near the tip and the tender part is being fed crosswise into the mouth.

Nice to see a tusker in action. One can see how swiftly they go about removing the mud and feeding. To get all the wrinkles and folds in the skin one needs good shutter speed as well as depth of field. Thanks for sharing.
