Nice closeup. What was the Shutter Speed ? Appears that you had a low shutter speed for the details around the beak are lesser when compared to those around the feathers. Maybe a slightly lower Aperture (around 6.3 on the Sigma 150-500) and a slightly higher ISO would have provided a higher shutter speed and hence more details.

Lovely eye contact and the clean BG adds to the picture.

Thanks for sharing

Nice eye contact. Agree with the above comments. Also I feel a rectangular framing would have enhanced the composition further than the present square one. Thanks for sharing.

thank you all very much for the reviews...

rajan, r u sure the beak is not sharp due to low shutter speed, or is it out of focus due to super closeup?

Hi Arpan

Could be either, but i tend to sway towards the Shutter Speed for the Aperture here is not the minimum on the 150-500 (which is 6.3).

At F8, the DOF is quite decent enough to get a clear coverage of the body and the beak. So, I tend to believe that unless this is a big crop, the SS could impact the details.

The other factor that adds to details and clarity is the stability (either on a strong tripod or a beanbag) at low shutter speeds . . . .

Rajan

rajan, thanks for the review...it may also be the cause, the camera was handheld on a boat in low light...
