Made this image last year at around 7 am in the morning. He was busy marking sent marking his territory and was posing for us.He is known as the bold male of Bandipur. People also call him as Raja or Shyam. Sources say that he has acquired a larger territory after the natural death of a tigress (gowri) I was using my 400 5.6 prime and I couldn't get the tail inside the the frame, 100-400 would have helped me to show the tail and some more habitat too.

Exif : Canon 7d + 400 5.6 L , Av mode, F:5.6, 1/500, ISO 400, Eval metering, Handheld.

Nice pose captured. Good light. Agree zooming out more would have been nice to get him fully. Maybe moving the camera a bit more to the left would have helped. Thanks for sharing.

Nice pose. Did you mean that he had to expand his territory to cover loosely marked territory of some other tigress(es) too? Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

Thanks for Mrudul for the feedback, yup moving the camera to the right would have covered the tail.

@ Sakti, Yes after the death of the tigress, the male tiger occupied the entire territory.

Srikanth,
Were you using the centre AF point?

Cutting off body parts of an animal becomes tough to digest. If it is a must, due to focal length constraints, then try to frame it along the natural joints of our body parts. Else, the composition looks accidental.

A vertical composition may have been better here. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
