During my last trip to Mangalore, while I was exploring reverse lens macro, I came across a strange spiky/thorny bug, hardly 5mm long, sitting on the blade of a grass. Unfortunately it was close to early noon and so the charged up bug jumped off into the dense bushes making it very difficult to track. The image I could manage to capture is of very poor quality but can u help in identifying the insect?

EXIF:

Canon 55-250 IS (Reverse)
F/0
Shutterspeed 1/128
ISO 100
In Built flash used
(Couldn't change the ISO instantaneously, so had to go for the Flash)

Nice record image. The vertical composition looks fine. Agree increasing hte ISO would have helped to get more details. Thanks for sharing.

Abhishek, can you please help with the id :). Thanks.

This looks like a beetle. My guess is that it belongs to the family Hispinae. Can't say for sure without more images, but based on what you remember of the sighting, you could try narrowing down to the ID.
