In Sultanpur earlier this year, in my last visit before the park closed. I had crept up close, crossing the flight distance and this Black shouldered kite took off and flew close over my head in what appeared to be a threat display.

Shot with the Nikon D90, Nikkor 70-300mm, at 300mm, ISO 400, 1/1600s - F/9

Lovely front view and eye contact. The black line over the eye is beautiful and the approaching flight looks like a real time image. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

Lovely wingspread and a great direct stare into the lens. Does look threatening. Wondering why there is loss of details at the wing tips in spite of high Shutter speed as well as a high aperture.

The clean BG is a big plus and the small twig gives a sense of the height.

thanks for sharing

Thanks...it has quite a fast flight, perhaps require nothing less than 1/2000s or even more for a complete freeze. Have used noise reduction to clean the bg

Nice to see this black shouldered kite in flight. The downward stroke of the wings is nice. Good that it is flying towards you instead of moving away from the frame.
