Calidris alpina

Another calidrid found wintering all along the Indian coast. Note the skinked bill which it uses in a fast rythymic probing along the shoreline for crustaceans and other prey.Often found feeding along with other species like sandpipers and stints on the beaches.

500d, 55-250, 250mm, Ae f7.1, ISO 400, 1/1250. Calicut outskirts.C&C welcome

Lovely composition of a not so easy to find bird. The walking pose and the low angle adds to the picture. The three little birds (just above and behind the Dunlin) almost look like dust specs on the sensor.

Thanks for sharing

The low angle looks great. Nice pose and good eye contact with the catch light. Liked the composition. When was this photographed? Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see these shore birds. The angle of the shot is nice. They look cute. I would love to see some early morning golden light images of these birds. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

Lovely composition. The liquid blue colours of the rippling waves and sea scape adds to the natural look of the image.
