Little Grebe with its family :) | Bangalore | September 2013

Yet another image from the lake near by my house..I was lucky to get a glimpse of this family, they were very shy! I was lying flat near a bush making sure that the bush will hide me.They just disappeared after knowing my presence, our shutter noise is more than enough for them to realize our presence and those smarties dint bother to come back again.I have also managed to get some frames where the entire group is in focus but I personally liked this one better..

Exif : Canon 7d + 400 2.8 IS L + 1.4 mark III TC , F:4, -2/3 Stop, 1/1000, ISO 640, Eval Metering, Beanbag held.

Lovely composition. The low angle enhances the image further. Good eye contact and details. Very nicely photographed. How much of a crop is this? Thanks for sharing.

Brilliant low angle composition. Any specific reason for the -2/3 stop?

The clean BG is a big plus to the picture. What time of the day was this pictured ?

Loved the head turn and eye contact along with the explicit details on the mom and the lil one to the right.

Thanks for sharing

The angle makes this image engaging. Nice to see it with the chicks. I would like to see the one with more depth of field as well. Did you further pull down the exposure during post processing? Thanks for sharing.

Yes Sabyasachi, I had to pull down the exposure a bit while processing. I will sooner share the other image with more DOF. Ranjan sir, i used -2/3 to get a darker BG, the subject was spot lighted and underexposing worked there.

Superb image...one to remember, the underexpose has been done masterfully and has made the pic along with the natural scene of the mother with chicks...really good
