It is not easy to shoot Ratufa indica, as it is mostly arboreal and the sky appearing through the canopy gets overexposed. At times they come down to the lower branches. This one seems to be resting during the midday. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mrudul and Saktida for the nice comments. It was a pure luck that I found the squirrel through the clearings, this is one of my first wildlife / birds photographs, any thing good in it is pure chance :).

Thanks Sabyasachi for noticing and correcting my last name. There were two gaint squirrels, one with brownish color and this one with 5 color tones!! This was the only redeemer of my 5 days trip.

The brown squirrel you have seen may be 'The Large Brown Flying Squirrel' -Petaurista petaurista philippensis recorded in Mudumalai. Though largest, it has very constricted appearance and the tip of the tail is not covered with long hair. It's a pure guess. Thanks.SaktiWild
