I used to have exactly this particular issue with the Sigma 150-500, when it was my mainstay. The lowest aperture 6.3 meant that this lens needed a lot of light for high DOF shots like this, where a minimum of F11 would bring at least the second bird on the line into focus, but that would be a high compromise on the shutter speed else had to boost up the ISO to gain a semblance of a trade off between both.

Give this lens some light and it comes into its own . . . . .

The details look washed out in this image. Did you attempt to reduce noise? Interesting composition.

thanks for the reviews... I think the loss of details is due to the fact that it was handheld in low light... also cropped... and yes noise reduction was used as there was to much visible noise in the bg...

Photoshop's noise reduction feature overdoes the job and washes out details. Lightroom's noise reduction slider is much more controllable and precise.
