Male Koel

Saw this male koel calling out to its mate. She did come and both shunted away possibly trying to look for a donor nest. My backyard is filled with sounds of mynas,bulbuls,sunbirds and orioles. I am sure the koel would use one of these birds's nest as a proxy. Never been able to see her perform this action though. Finally got my Nikon 1.4x Teleconverter and these are the first images with the TC.

Nice details, good job at the low SS. I would prefer the colours a little warmer. Look forward to a lot more from your new equipment!

Nice details even at a low SS. Agree with Abhishek on the warmth. A rectangular compo with more space to the right would help enhance the image. The brilliant red eyes and head turn is a great plus to the photo.

Thanks for all your comments. The real test is going to come in feb'14 when I visit Kabini. Trying to get a hang of the lens before that.
