You can see the rackets developing on both sides of the tail feathers. The size of the crest varies in the sub species. This is the nominate form found in the western ghats. Not a fan of bird on a stick images but I just like this one.

500D, 55-250, 250mm,Ae, f7.1, ISO800, SS 1/80. Calicut outskirts. C&C welcome

Nice compo. Light seems tricky for even at 800 ISO you could only manage a 1/80 SS.

Interesting tail feathers and the blue tint to its upper feathers looks exotic.Inspite of the low light the black still carries nice details.Thanks for sharing.

Nice eye contact. Liked the slight curled feathers on the head :-). Even with the low light and shutter speed, the details are good. The leaves frame the image nicely from the top. Thanks for sharing.
