This is a lovely scene from the far corners of India. Much different from the other landscapes, Ladakh is stark and beautiful. Rich colours. Lots of layers in the image. The clouds playing hide and seek and the glimpse of the snow capped peak. Lovely.

What a stunning pic....

I have been to Ladakh. In fact we drove down.. and it remains one of my best holidays ever.... each moment a treasure.....

Did you know that the area depends on the fragile eco system existing there...?? The climatic changes that is effecting every region across the world has also started to effect this cold desert. The crops are watered not by monsoon rains but by the melting glaciers. The snow capped peaks are the only source of drinking water. The houses are made of mud and straw, which keep the freezing winds out and conserve heat within.

Lately the rains have been quite frequent in this region. Can you imagine what devastating effect it would have on this very fragile system.

Yes the harsh climatic conditions have led to various formations in the landscape.I have posted another image displaying the same.
