Sandip,
The crop has resulted in loss of details. It is better to try and use the focal length available and compose to create an environmental portrait. The reason is one should play according to his/her strengths. If you have a smaller focal length (one often needs a long focal length for birds), then try and create a wider composition which shows the habitat of the species. The best images are those which tell us a story for eg the interdependence of a species with its habitat.

With smaller focal lengths you can also create tight portraits. However, for that you have to ensure that the bird comes near you. So you need to set up a hide and wait at the place the bird is likely to come.
