India's most notorious poacher Sansar Chand dies of cancer. The man responsible for the killing of hundreds of tigers and leopards was a master at his trade and knew how to evade the law. Inspite of all his misdeeds he was recently released from jail...a glaring example of how rare a conviction in wildlife crime is in our country, poachers literally get away with murder.
Our authorities have one major headache less but there could be many potential sansar chands waiting to take his place, hopefully they are not allowed to have as much impact. We definitely need much stronger laws and their implementation
