Photographed in Manas NP... endangered according to IUCN and population is still decreasing in this subcontinent...due to "interbreeding with feral and domestic buffalo, hunting, and habitat loss/degradation. Diseases and parasites (transmitted by domestic livestock) and interspecific competition for food and water between wild buffalo and domestic stock are also serious threats" (as per IUCN).

Beautiful habitat photograph. I liked the composition. Was it cloudy or was it late in the evening? The gloomy weather and the grey trees in the background give a different feel to the image. Very nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

Majestic wild buffaloes of Manas for which it is truly famous, nicely captured. It appears to me that there are three females and one male in this herd.
Observations of IUCN on inbreeding or feral buffaloes may not be exactly applicable for Manas.
