Red-crested Pochards enjoying a family feast

Clicked on 14-Dec-13 in Kareli lake in Vikarabad. I have seen these birds for the first time on that day, in fact I was coming back from a trek along the shore after hearing my wife muffled calls, and she pointed to these beauties’. I had spotted RC pochards in three lakes this year. In this mage they (both males and females) are feeding on aquatic grasses.

Nice sighting. Good that you are visiting all these lesser known places and documenting the sightings. Which other species you could sight there? Were RC pochards present in a large number? Thanks for sharing.
