This was during an evening boat safari at Kabini

5D Mark II, 400 DO IS, F4, 1/3200, ISO 500, Bean Bag supported, tried a manual White Balance (while shooting on the camera) for the first time

The birds plumage has a beautiful sheen like mother of pearl.Lovely colours and composition.Being in the boat has given you the advantage of a low angle which adds to the composition. Thanks for sharing.

The bird stands out amidst the greenery and the low angle. When the angle is low, and the camera focal plane passes through the subject (bird in this case) the horizon is virtually at infinity and the background becomes easily out of focus. Only a small part of the ground remains in focus. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

Lovely compo and low angle. I see a slight lack of details, did you use a noise-reduction tool? (ISO 500 for a 5DM2 shouldn't be a problem though...)

Nope, no noise reduction done. Not even a crop. Maybe the whites and the black combo with the manual WB balance experiment :-)
