Tough situation but you made the most of it by getting the eyes through the vegetation. Due to the side lighting the right eye (the one on our left side) of the owl is in light. A frontal lighting would have ensured both the eyes in light, however that was not under your control. Thanks for sharing.

I really like this image. The expression on the owl's face with the half-open eyes and beak makes this image. As those attention-grabbing elements (and most of the plumage) are in the clear, the 'clutter' doesn't bother me. In fact, to think a little more artistically (:D) I would say the upper twig sort of frames the face. Lighting from the correct angle, as Sabyasachi mentions, would have made this even better.
Side thought: I might try experimenting with a black and white version.
